During my trip to Naples, I’ve been told that the Neapolitan ragu must be on my bucket list. Apparently, Tandem is the first restaurant entirely dedicated to serving Neapolitan ragù in Naples.

A Neapolitan Ragù is famous for its meat sauce. Made with beef or pork or a combination of both and slow cooked in tomatoes. As the name indicates, it is a Neapolitan speciality. The Neapolitan type are from three main parts: a soffritto, meat and tomato sauce.

LET’S TALK ABOUT TANDEM RAGU

To start with, the setting of the restaurant was very traditional and casual in a hipster neighbourhood. The outdoor patio is clean and simple with ten tables more or less. The concept at Tandem Ragù is simple.

There are various ragù based dishes featuring different cuts of meat and pasta. The menu had quite an interesting variety. From Ragù specialities, such as Gnocchi con ragu e Provola, Manfredi con Ragù e Ricotta, Fondue di Ragù and many others. Vegetarian dishes were available as well.

The staff was very friendly, even showed us a small display with different types of pasta and explained the differences. So, I asked the waiter to choose one of the best Ragu on the menu. He suggested the Freschi Con ragù e Ricotta. Served with a bread basket and parmesan cheese on the side. Generously portioned the ragu was really hot, well-braised meat, well-seasoned with ricotta mixed in the creamy sauce. The pasta was clearly fresh and perfectly cooked to my likings. I would say it is a simple, flavorful and heavy winter dish. Definitely recommended.

NAPLES ART METRO TOUR

As the day passed by, Marc ended up taking part in an art metro tour where he spent 2 hours exploring the work of art. The new stations can be found on Line 1 and Line 6 of Naples Metro. The artists who created those artworks are international well-established names, as well as young Italien architects. In 2012 The Daily Telegraph awarded the title of a most impressive metro station in Europe to Toledo. And again in 2014, CNN has named it the most beautiful station in Europe. From futuristic escalators sculptures, beautiful mosaics and many others. Simply amazing! The metro art station is literally the coolest Metro I have ever visited.
